You’ll enter the home of a demented couple and meet a young girl named Nina. The couple thought of her as the perfect child, and she’s the only one thus far to be unharmed. This is only because she met their expectations and followed their rules: hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil. You’ll follow her throughout the secret passages that the children made in order to survive this terrifying house of slaughter. Due to starving conditions, the children resorted to gnawing on each other. Don’t let them see you, or you could be their next meal!

During your tour, you’ll be walking between walls, climbing steps, entering and exiting through vents, and making your way out of closets and cabinets. You will also encounter several hidden booby traps that were placed there by “Leather Head” to eliminate the chances of escape. Will you get trapped inside these walls forever?

Once you’ve made it out of the main house and away from Leather Head and Mother Mary, you’ll face one final obstacle. There’s a wolf creature at the end who was fed by the children’s remains. Can you avoid being his sacrifice?

NM Slaughterhouse Haunted Attraction was the first haunted house in the state in 2012. They were the first haunt in all of the United States to bring in nearly 10,000 visitors to their haunted house.

The facility is so well-known that producers of Paranormal Activity and Insidious made a visit to the haunted house to inspire their films and find the most haunted places in the U.S. After their tour, they dubbed NM Slaughterhouse Haunted Attraction as the most extreme in the entire country!

Located in Amarillo, Texas, this haunted attraction is the largest in the area. It features five haunted attractions for the whole family to enjoy!

Start in their Insanitarium. It’s a zombie-infested hospital that’s bound to make you scared of the doctor! You might have to run from the zombies to make your escape. Next, enter The Basement…if you dare! It has over 15,000 square feet containing your worst nightmares. Dolls, clowns, and skeletons, oh my! Make your way to Terror, which is full of everything that goes bump in the night. You’ll be having nightmares for weeks from everything you see inside!

In addition to these haunted areas, Amarillo Scaregrounds features attractions that are spooky-themed but won’t give you nightmares. Try your hand at the Axe Slinger Society! IT features four lanes where you’ll throw axes at targets with your friends. Do you have the strength to win? You can also check out Xcape Room Village, which features several five-minute escape rooms. Since they’re shorter than regular escape rooms, you can try them all! Will you make it out in time, or be trapped in the abyss forever?

 

HAUNTED HOUSE TIPS

  • Wear the right clothes! Choose an outfit that you don’t mind getting dirty, especially if you’re going to an extreme location. You should be able to walk and even run in the shoes you wear.
  • Bring friends. Walking through a haunted house with friends makes it a lot more fun! Make sure to pick people who can handle the scares.
  • Don’t show your fear. If you’re trying to make it out of the haunted house near me without getting too scared, try to minimize your reactions to scary events. The actors will have fun scaring people who are over the top!
