DESCRIPTION

ocean-city-b&b

The description of Ocean City Bed and Breakfast has been well stated on this bed and breakfast’s website.

“The accommodations at Ocean City Mansion are nothing short of luxurious. The 1896 mansion has been totally remodeled to provide all the modern amenities in a comfortable, historic setting. All rooms have beautifully appointed private baths that include such amenities as towel warmers. Guests enjoy a delicious full course hot breakfast. Dog friendly rooms are available.”

Ocean City Bed and Breakfast sits on a large lot, 3,999 sq ft., of which all structures take up 3, 552 square feet.

The original 1896 mansion has three stories. The owners Nancy and Scott have made seven glorious guest suites available in the original mansion, as well as providing the two apartments for guest stays.

Each guest suite and apartment has a theme, showing the creativity of the owners.

The mansion has been renovated to please the modern guest while keeping a lot of the Victorian aura that the original owners who built this historic home liked.

HISTORY

The original Ocean City Bed and Breakfast Victorian structure was built in 1896, probably as a second home for a well-to-do family to enjoy their beach holiday. It eventually may have become a rental property for beach goers when the owners were not using it. It was never divided up into apartments, though two apartments were built on the property sometime during its long history. Perhaps some owners decided to live full time in Ocen City while they rented out the rooms.

A hundred years later, in 1997, Scott and Nancy Aiken Robel bought the old mansion with the idea of fixing it up, repairing and renovating a little in order to open their own bed and breakfast, called “Somewhere in Time” ; named after the film of the same title. Sometime in the years that followed they changed the name of their establishment to Ocean City Bed and Breakfast. It was a true labor of love. After finally completing their restoration/renovation of their mansion, they opened for business in 2004.

Soon after Scott and Nancy started to restore and renovate their mansion, they discovered that they had friendly, gentile spiritpeople sharing the mansion with them.

HISTORY OF MANIFESTATIONS

Not much has been revealed as to who these spirits could be, and why they like to visit or stay here in their after-life. A good guess at their identity is that they may be former owners of the property who loved their beach home, or people who stayed here throughout the years, or perhaps people who once worked as servants.

The act of restoring/renovating a structure can act like an environmental trigger that activates the spirits who call it home. Many odd things in their mansion began to happen after they started the restoration/ renovation work, that they started out doing themselves.

People who enjoyed their lives, holidays or place of employment while alive at a special place may want to visit and remember all the good times they had in their favorite structure.

MANIFESTATIONS

Still Love this Structure

A good guess at who these spirit people are is that they may be former owners of the property who loved their beach home, people who stayed here throughout the years, or perhaps people who once worked as servants in this mansion.

Hello, I’m Here!

Spirits have made their presences known in subtle ways in the Honeymoon Suite and other rooms found in the original home. These spirits have been described as being friendly and gentile, willing to share their favorite place with the living.

They haven’t appeared in front of the living, but perhaps thought it rude not to let the other living people in this mansion know that they were there also.

General Paranormal Activity

The paranormal activity has mostly occurred in the rooms of the original mansion, especially the Honeymoon Suite which may have been the original master bedroom.

Objects are moved around the rooms.

Disembodied voices are heard in the various rooms, especially the Honeymoon Suite.

Footsteps are heard coming from the second floor rooms.

STILL HAUNTED?

Very Probably so! While no actual physical sightings have been reported, there is some evidence and boatloads of personal experiences that back up the reported manifestations listed above.

Nancy and Scott and their guests have long experienced the mellow paranormal activity listed above.

South Jersey Paranormal Research came in to investigate when Nancy and Scott first opened their bed and breakfast. They must of gathered some hard evidence because they told her that they felt that there was a lot of paranormal activity going on in the mansion.
